I haven’t done one of these reviews since 2012 — the first year we cruised on Camille.

We bought Limerick Christmas 2015 and the first thing we did was to take a little shakedown cruise for the new year. A trip to the San Juan Islands was a great way to unwind after the whirlwind of buying a boat and get to know our new home.In February we got down to the business of making some improvements to Limerick and spent the entire month in dry dock. We replaced the shaft and propeller, painted the bottom and made a variety of repairs. With boat work finally completed in March, we left Limerick in a covered slip and drove the mini-van south to San Diego to get a break from the boat and visit with friends and family. The main reason we headed south was to pick up our storage trailer in San Diego. When we sold Camille we just tossed all the extra boat stuff into the trailer so we had a big job of going through things. Luckily, we were able to use a friend’s garage to spread out. We reorganized everything and then towed it up to Washington with the help of Mike’s parents.  As soon as we arrived in Washington we headed out to the islands aboard Limerick and at the end of April celebrated my birthday. We spent much of May getting Limerick ready to go cruising. At the end of the month we finally made it up to British Columbia and what is sometimes referred to as “the holy grail of cruising”: Princess Louisa Inlet. June was spent just enjoying beautiful British Columbia. In July we had to start heading back south because we were given a great job opportunity that we could not pass up. We picked and ate as many oysters as we could before pulling Limerick out of the water at the end of July. We then drove nearly 3,000 miles in four long days to arrive in Louisiana at the end of the month. August and September were spent collecting data to update NOAA nautical charts. Between working 80+ hours per week we saw a little bit of New Orleans, cooked up amazing meals with a great bunch of people, and I was able to get in some puppy-time with Lola the office dog. Mike even caught a a few fish including two giant Wahoo. Limerick was getting shrink-wrapped for the winter while we were working. When work was completed in Louisiana we drove to San Diego for a little R&R. Beaches, sunsets, surfing… San Diego in November is perfect! For December we headed a little further north to Ventura where we are right now. Taking a little trip out to Channel Islands National Park really made us miss our boat but we’ll wait a while longer for the weather to improve in the Pacific Northwest before heading north.
