Last post we left off about to go exploring in Alaska after completing another charting project. We did some fishing, hiking and even had bearcub and beluga whale sightings. Alaska always delivers adventure! If you head up to Alaska make sure to get this guide to find all the best sights.

After a couple of weeks, we were ready to head back to our own boat in Washington. Getting Limerick ready to go and provisioned only took a few days since we had left her in indoor storage.

Since Canada has been closed to tourism for most of the year we cruised the San Juan Islands some more. The islands are very protected and mooring balls are easy to find in the fall. We were grateful to have our diesel heater to warm up the boat on chilly mornings.

Here is a slideshow of our time cruising the islands:

By the end of October, it was starting to get cold and rainy so we got Limerick ready to be shrink-wrapped and headed south with the whales. In the minivan of course. First, we headed west to the Olympic Peninsula and then south on Highway One all the way to San Diego.

When it’s time to eat, we set up our chairs and table at the side of the road at an overlook or on the beach. We usually make our own lunches but sometimes we just can’t resist sushi.

When it’s time to go to sleep we have a super cozy bed! If you want to know more about our minivan camping setups check out our minivan page.
