After selling our trawler Limerick last October and moving everything off the boat and into our storage trailer, we headed out on the road in the minivan (which now has over 290,000 miles on it) to spend the holidays with family. First stop Colorado, for Thanksgiving with Mike’s family, and then on to San Diego for Christmas. In January we drove back to Washington state for a total of 7,000 miles. In February, we flew to Washington, DC to work on the rivers of the Chesapeake Bay, collecting data for nautical chart updates. After four months of work, it is time for a bit of a longer break. Check out where we are currently by visiting our Photo Albums page.

In San Diego, we wanted to try out something new. While visiting our favorite resort on Orcas Island last fall, we met a woman who told us about an app for house/pet-sitting that she had used to find free stays all summer. We signed up and were able to find two 2-week stays near the beach in San Diego. In exchange for staying in a house just a 10-minute walk from the beach in La Jolla, we cared for two cats. They even had a SUP for us to use. The second home had two sweet dogs, which was a nice bonus for us as we miss having a dog of our own.

I did a little photoshoot with each of the pets. If you want to “hire” us to housesit check out our profile. And to get 25% off your own membership and become a pet sitter click here.

During one of the big January storms we took some drone footage and produced a short video. Please subscribe to our channel in case we decide to make more videos.
