It looks like summer has arrived in the Pacific Northwest. When the sun comes out there is no better place in my opinion. We have been doing a housesit on Vashon Island near Seattle. Doing these longer sits really allows us to get to know a place.

Mike did some surfing and we hiked a few of the beaches. Our favorite was Botanical Beach — maybe because that was our only sunny day. Botanical Beach lies at the west end of the 40km long Juan de Fuca Marine Trail, a wilderness hiking trail along Vancouver Island’s south coast.

We flew to the Big Islands of Hawaii for my birthday at the end of April. We had a three-week housesit lined up but stayed at a rental for the first ten days to celebrate. We went snorkeling as much as possible and drove to almost every corner of the island. The best breakfast with a view on the island. After putting well over 300,000 miles on our beloved minivan and waiting several years for car prices to normalize we finally bought a new ride. Of course, this does not mean this is the end of boat life!
