A couple of days before Christmas we finally moved aboard our new boat. It took us a while to figure out what we wanted to do after selling Camille a year and a half ago. We considered buying a house with some land, traveling by land, moving to Europe, etc. We came back up to the Pacific Northwest to look at some properties and spent a couple of weeks house shopping. But every time we drove past a marina we talked about what kind of boat we could buy after buying some property and all the places we would go on said boat. Turns out maybe we don’t want chickens and ducks as much as we thought. So we abandoned the idea of the little farm and started boat shopping mid-November.
Meet “Limerick”. She is a 36 foot trawler designed my Ed Monk and is hull number one — but with her custom swim-step she is closer to 40 feet overall. Remember that list we made of requirements for our next boat? Well, she covers a lot of those but new she is not! Oh, and did we mention she is not a sailboat?! Yes, the PacificSailors have gone to the dark side. But she’s a trawler, so we’ll still be going at about the same speed 🙂
Two staterooms. Two heads. Lots of space for visitors!
Two years later: check out some of the changes and updates we have made!
A beautiful boat she is I myself am looking for a Trawler we are planning to do The Great Loop in Feb 2018!!
I think a trawler would be perfect for the loop. We are loving having a nice heater and so much more space in the same length as our sailboat.
What a great trawler, even so i have no idea what the difference is between this and a boat is.
Congratulation
Danke Michael! When you come visit I will explain the difference. 🙂
Nice boat…much more room than your previous sailboat. We recently bought a new boat ourselves in hopes to cruise within a year or so. It’s a Cruisers 455 Express and is gorgeous but is so high tech, things are not so easy to fix! Hopefully when we finally get out there, would lov to meet y’all cuz we’ve followed your blog for awhile!
Thanks! Tons more room. And all that at two feet LESS. Would love to meet up!
Congratulations! We’d love a trawler someday … so much more room and no sails to maintain!
Yes, not having a mast, lines and sails takes some of the pressure off! And I love being able to steer from our living room.
Welcome back to the water! You know, of course, what we call sailors who switch to trawlers? Transvesselites!
LOL. We sure enjoyed our heated cabin to steer from today!
she’s a beauty! I can totally understand a trawler in the Pacific Northwest. There’s probably one in our future too. Congratulations!
We are really excited about not having to freeze in an open cockpit!
